Cosmetic Acupuncture
What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic or facial acupuncture is a rejuvenating beauty treatment that Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners have practised for centuries. The treatment improves a number of skin conditions, such as dull skin, acne-prone skin, scarring, fine lines/wrinkles, uneven skin/pigmentation, and facial lifting.
The treatment is relatively painless and a natural alternative to conventional western therapies, such as needling and lasers. It is also relaxing and safe, with minimal side effects and down time.
How does Cosmetic Acupuncture work, and what makes our treatment unique?
The teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasize on enhancing the Qi and Blood Circulation through the activation of acupuncture points. At Harmonizing Chinese Medicine Clinic, we believe in the harmony within the body. Our cosmetic acupuncture addresses the harmony of internal and external conditions to achieve a radian look.
To minimize the pain and side effects to the minimal, our TCM practitioners uses sterile, single-use and ultra-fine acupuncture needles manufactured in Japan for our patients.
Depending on your condition, our TCM practitioners insert these needles into specific pressure points, which may include forehead, cheeks, jawline and neck. Through the use of these acupuncture needles in these points, the treatment is able to stimulate beyond your skin level and down towards soft tissues and muscles, achieving a more effective treatment overall.
Is Cosmetic Acupuncture safe?
Yes, Cosmetic Acupuncture is a safe and non-invasive treatment when performed by a qualified and experienced acupuncturist. At Harmonizing Chinese Medicine Clinic, our practitioners are highly skilled and trained in this technique.
We use sterile, disposable needles and follow strict hygiene protocols to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the treatment.
What are the benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic Acupuncture offers a range of benefits beyond skin rejuvenation. It can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. The treatment can also improve facial muscle tone, promote a more even complexion, and reduce puffiness and under-eye circles. Additionally, Cosmetic Acupuncture has a holistic approach, addressing underlying imbalances in the body that may contribute to skin issues, resulting in improved overall health and vitality.
What does a standard cosmetic acupuncture session look like?
At Harmonizing Chinese Medicine Clinic, our standard cosmetic acupuncture session consists of a thorough consultation, which includes the examination of the tongue and pulse as well. We believe in the treatment of the body as one. As your face is a manifestation of the internal body, we will ask questions about your overall health conditions.
After obtaining a deep understanding of your body and face condition, our TCM practitioners will proceed to insert acupuncture needles onto specific pressure points on the body and the face. The needles will then be left on those points for approximately 20 minutes to allow the flow of the Qi to take effects before being carefully removed. Removal will be slow and gentle to keep any bruising to the minimal.
Depending on your specific conditions, other modalities like facial Gua Sha, herbal face mask, and PDT LED light therapy may be incorporated to further enhance the effects of the treatment.
Who can get cosmetic acupuncture?
As our cosmetic acupuncture works on encouraging the flow of Qi without any use of harmful chemicals, anyone above 12 years can enjoy the treatment. Depending on your concern, we can work on a treatment protocol to improve your specific skin conditions.
However, please be aware that those with facial implants, recently received other conventional cosmetic injections, severe acne and pregnancy may not candidates for cosmetic acupuncture. A thorough consultation is needed for us to determine whether cosmetic acupuncture is suitable for your condition.

Can I combine Cosmetic Acupuncture with other skincare treatments?
Absolutely! Cosmetic Acupuncture can complement other skincare treatments and therapies. It can be used alongside facial treatments, natural skincare regimens, and non-invasive cosmetic procedures to enhance their effects. Your practitioner can provide guidance on how to integrate Cosmetic Acupuncture into your skincare routine and work in harmony with other treatments for optimal results.
How many times should I get cosmetic acupuncture to see the results?
Cosmetic acupuncture is a natural way to enhance the face conditions by encouraging the natural flow of Qi and achieving harmony within. Hence, it does take some time to see the effects, unlike certain conventional cosmetic treatments.
Several factors may come into play on the time frame required, such as age and lifestyle habits etc. After considering your specific circumstances and conditions, our TCM practitioners will endeavour to provide their best estimate on the timeframe required to allow you to make an informed decision on pursuing this natural way of healing.
Are there any side effects of Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic Acupuncture is generally well-tolerated, and side effects are minimal. You may experience slight redness or mild bruising at the needle insertion points, but these effects are temporary and typically fade quickly. Some people also report feeling relaxed and rejuvenated after the treatment.
It’s important to communicate any concerns or discomfort you may have during your session, as our acupuncturist can adjust the treatment accordingly.
